CNC Fiber Laser Cutting for Structural Steel: How Winarc Powered Prime Metal Building System’s New PEB Facility

When Prime Metal Building System, a leading name in the Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) industry, set out to equip its newly established manufacturing facility, one requirement stood above the rest: dependable CNC fiber laser cutting for structural steel that could match the scale, speed, and precision demanded by large PEB projects. Winarc Cutting Systems was chosen as the manufacturing technology partner to make that possible.

About Prime Metal Building System

Prime Metal Building System is a leading company in the Pre-Engineered Building industry, delivering structural steel solutions for large-scale industrial and commercial projects. You can learn more about them on LinkedIn.

The Challenge: Precision and Speed at Scale for PEB Fabrication

PEB manufacturers work with thick structural steel sections, tight tolerances, and high-volume cutting schedules — all while under pressure to shorten project turnaround times. For a newly established facility, the choice of cutting technology directly determines fabrication quality, throughput, and the ability to take on larger, more complex projects from day one. Prime Metal Building System needed a solution that combined the clean-edge precision of CNC fiber laser cutting for structural steel with the raw cutting capacity required for heavier plasma-cut sections — without compromising on either.

The Solution: A Dual Fiber Laser and Plasma Cutting Setup from Winarc

Winarc designed and commissioned a two-machine cutting solution tailored to structural steel fabrication for PEB manufacturing:

  • WINARC WinPro 13030 CNC Fiber Laser Cutting Machine — fitted with a MAX Photonics 12 kW laser source, purpose-built for high-speed, high-precision CNC fiber laser cutting for structural steel and heavy-gauge plate.
  • 3000 × 6500 mm CNC Plasma Cutting Machine — powered by a Hypertherm MAXPRO200 plasma source, sized for large-format structural steel plates common in PEB fabrication.

Together, the two machines give Prime Metal Building System the flexibility to match the right cutting process to each job — fiber laser for precision and speed on thinner and mid-gauge sections, plasma for large-format, heavier plates — all within a single facility.

Why CNC Fiber Laser Cutting for Structural Steel Matters for PEB Manufacturers

For fabricators serving the PEB industry, the case for CNC fiber laser cutting for structural steel comes down to three business outcomes:

  • Faster production cycles — high-speed cutting reduces bottlenecks in structural steel fabrication lines, supporting shorter project timelines.
  • Greater precision — tighter tolerances and cleaner edges reduce rework and improve the fit-up of structural components on site.
  • Enhanced fabrication capability — the combined laser and plasma setup extends the range of thicknesses and part geometries the facility can take on, supporting larger and more complex PEB projects.

Looking Ahead

With commissioning complete, the WinPro 13030 CNC fiber laser and the 3000 × 6500 mm plasma cutting machine are now part of Prime Metal Building System’s production floor, ready to support its structural steel fabrication requirements as the facility scales. Winarc will continue to work alongside the Prime Metal Building System team to ensure both machines deliver consistent performance as production volumes grow.
